Locally owned and operated for 30 years by Mark and Susan Furo. The Jewelers Bench has 3 full time goldsmiths on sight. Custom, semi-custom and re-designing gold and silver jewelry is our passion. Lapidary services as well as a custom jewelry line featuring our local gems such as Lake Superior Agate, Thomsonite and Isle Royale Greenstone!
Our Story
MEET THE TEAM
Mark & Susan Furo
Mark and Susan Furo established The Jewelers Bench in 1987 as a wholesale jewelry repair shop. They had accounts with 17 different stores around the Midwest and worked in a small office that was closed to the public. Fast forward 30 years. They now have 4 employees, a large showroom stocked with custom jewelry and a very loyal customer base.
Mark has been a bench jeweler for over 36 years and is the head Goldsmith in the shop. He is a great instructor and has been able to tailor his employee's skills to fit the businesses demands.
Our CFO Susan has had a strong hand in shaping the business since the beginning. She is an excellent leader and great at keeping up morale around the office.
JESS, Sales & Communications
Meet Jess, second generation and daughter of Mark and Susan. You will often find her smiling face as you enter our showroom. She is a sales associate, an aspiring office manager and handles all of The Jewelers Bench social media outlets. Here since 2012, Jess's passion for Mother Nature and all the unusual gems and minerals she has to offer shows in her custom jewelry designs.
LISA, Goldsmith
Our #2 Goldsmith, professional beader and sales associate Lisa has been with us since 2003. She has a Bachelor of the Fine Arts Degree from UMD, that has served her well in the jewelry industry. Her whimsical styling gives her an expert eye in helping to create that one-of-a-kind custom creation sure to last a lifetime.
JOBY, Goldsmith
Our #3 Goldsmith and son of Mark and Susan is Joby. He has been tinkering with metals in the shop since he was a little boy. In 2008, he proved himself to be a contributor to the business with his lapidary and metalsmithing skills and started working full time. You can see his custom line of Lake Superior Agate jewelry in stock anytime in our showroom, or make an appointment to have custom jewelry made with your own stones.
